How would you like to be able to walk into your favorite restaurant and just pull out your phone to place your order?
Storific wants you to do just that. It is a free app that is currently in beta for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. By using Storific, you would view a restaurant’s menu on your phone and place your order without having to speak to a soul.
Currently 37 restaurants are testing the app. When you arrive at one of these restaurants, you’ll be given a checkin code - this code is for the business to know what table you’re seated at. Simply place your order, sit back, relax and wait for your drinks and food.
I’m assuming a human will bring you your food, but I’m sure someone’s is working on an app for that too.
The developers of this app wanted to take mobile services that people use everyday – such as search engine apps like Yelp and discount apps like Groupon – and take it one step further. They believe that “technology, especially mobile innovation, represents a new revolution that can help local businesses improve customer relationships and sales results”.
Storific is currently taking applications for restaurants, cafes, bars and night clubs. They also plan on expanding to an Android version.
I’m interested to see how this plays out. Thinking about how impossible it is to get a drink at a bar from time to time, makes me think that in certain circumstances, this app may actually work.
